Torn belly wrap is why your floors are cold
The black fabric under a manufactured home holds the underfloor insulation in place. Once it tears — from rodents, a plumber cutting through it, or age — the insulation drops out, the floor goes cold, the furnace runs constantly, and the water lines lose their thermal buffer. It is the most common and most overlooked energy problem in manufactured housing, and repairing it is cheap relative to what it costs you every winter.
